New Research: How Strong are Families in the US?

The Family Structure Index report was created by two organizations: the Institute for Family Studies and the Center for Christian Virtue.

The research and analysis behind the report are led by scholars such as Brad Wilcox, along with contributors like Grant Bailey and Nicholas Zill.

In short, it’s a collaborative research project combining academic analysis and policy research to track trends in marriage, family stability, and fertility across the United States.

Families in the United States aren’t as strong as they were a couple of decades ago, largely because fewer people are getting married or having children. While things have leveled off a bit – especially when it comes to kids living with married parents – family life overall still isn’t as stable as it once was. Where you live also makes a difference, with some regions showing stronger family patterns than others. What’s clear, though, is that strong, stable families play a big role in helping children thrive and build a better future.
