Phone-based childhoods are changing the way kids play (or don’t play) with others and prepare for their futures as healthy, stable adults.

Just how far-reaching is the problem?

You’ll get to hear from three experts who are dedicated to helping children thrive in a digital culture — what they’re seeing professionally with an opportunity for a Q and A followed by moderated small-group break-out sessions.

Special guests include:

Amanda Gibbons, a Licensed Master’s Level Social Worker (LMSW) with a wealth of knowledge in family, individual and group counseling. She completed her Clinical Internship at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD, and formerly held positions at Carroll County Youth Service Bureau and a public mental health group practice.

Kellie Hurst, an enthusiastic, 25-year veteran health teacher who will address on changes in classroom participation, and students’ ability to communicate effectively and form healthy dating relationships.

A  representative from the Carroll County Sherriff’s Department speaking on internet crimes, sexting – and yes, child safety in a school if students don’t have a cellphone.
